| Project Title: |
National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Administration and Project Management
| Background: |
The DEPARTMENT is implementing the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program to support the development of a reliable, federally compliant fast-charging network along Nevada’s designated Alternative Fuel Corridors. The program represents significant federal investment and carries long-term operational, financial, and compliance responsibilities for the State.
Nevada’s implementation approach is intentionally phased. Initial efforts are focused on restoring reliability and addressing known deficiencies within existing corridor infrastructure before expanding to new locations. This strategy reflects the State’s large rural geography, extreme operating conditions, utility constraints in certain areas, and the need to ensure that early investments result in durable, dependable service for interstate and intrastate travel.
| Project Scope: |
The purpose of this Project is to manage Nevada’s NEVI funding for the planning, development, and deployment of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across the state. The Project will bring together state agencies, local governments, utilities, contractors, and community partners to ensure that investments meet NEVI program requirements and serve Nevada’s transportation priorities. Efforts will include managing compliance, coordinating site planning and construction, addressing permitting and utility needs, and tracking progress toward key milestones. The ultimate goal is to expand Nevada’s EV charging network in a way that improves accessibility for drivers, supports tourism and economic activity, and advances the state’s clean transportation and sustainability objectives.
